Master Thesis: Photonics Development for Ion Traps (f/m/d)
Infineon Technologies Austria AG
The world is filled with computational problems that are far too complex for today's or even future classical supercomputers. These challenges span various critical domains such as life- and material science, finance and logistics and require unparalleled computational power to solve efficiently. Quantum computers, with their potential to process information in fundamentally different ways, promise to efficiently solve many of these intractable problems. However, for quantum computing to become practically useful, it must achieve the ability to control a large number of qubits with high precision, surpassing the state-of-the-art capabilities available today. For trapped-ion quantum computing, this requires the integration of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) into the quantum processing unit (QPU) for scalable and reliable qubit control. One particular challenge to address now is efficient incoupling into the PIC, which will be the focus of your master's project. Do you want to be part of a highly motivated team working on QPUs? Together we will overcome the complex challenges that stand between us and the widespread adoption of quantum computing Our team in Villach is looking forward to receiving your application!
